About this event

This workshop is part of Grafton Regional Gallery’s Creative Clarence program, which aims to provide opportunities for artists and creative practitioners living in the Clarence Valley.

Led by members of the Queensland Bookbinders' Guild, this course introduces you to cloth and paper covers and is suitable for beginners. You will learn about paper grain, cutting, folding, and sewing the signature to create a multi-signature sewn and bound sketchbook, which uses no specialist equipment. You will make the cover and then case-in with the text you have made. This style is suitable for sketchbooks, journals and binding existing texts.

This course will prepare you to progress to the next level (Intermediate Bookbinding Course) or to continue on your own.
All materials, notes and basic bookbinding tools are supplied in your kit.

Course cost $200 for QBG members, $250 for non-members
